Wholesale gets used loosely in this trade, so here is exactly what we mean by it. The first thing that changes is the pack. Buying paint in 4 litre packs is convenient for a single room, but it is the most expensive way to buy litres. The moment you move to 20 litre drums the per-litre cost drops, and that is true across every brand on our shelves. For a job of any size, drums are where you should be buying.
The second thing that changes is how the order is priced. A counter sale is priced item by item. A project is priced as a whole. When you tell us the full requirement up front — so many bags of putty, so many drums of primer, this much interior emulsion, this much exterior — we can quote the package rather than each tin, and that lands you at a better number than adding up the individual rates. It also lets us hold the stock for you instead of you discovering mid-job that the shade you need is not on the shelf.
The third thing is choice. We are a multi-brand dealer, not a single-brand franchise, and that matters more on a project than on a single room. We carry Asian Paints, Berger, Nerolac, Dulux, Birla Opus, JSW, Indigo, Shalimar, Sheenlac, Jotun and MRF Vapocure. So when a quotation comes back to you it can show the same specification at two or three price points — the premium brand the architect asked for, and a solid alternative that does the same job for less. You decide which one the budget takes. A single-brand dealer cannot give you that comparison, because they only have one answer.
The fourth thing, and for institutional buyers often the most important, is the paperwork. Every bulk supply is billed on a proper GST invoice with our GSTIN, HSN codes and item-wise tax. We can issue the quotation in advance in the format your file or tender needs. For schools, hospitals, temple trusts and panchayat works, this is usually the difference between an order that can be processed and one that cannot.
And the last thing is that it is one desk. You are not chasing three suppliers for putty, emulsion and enamel, each with a different delivery date. One quotation, one invoice, one delivery schedule to your site, and one person on the phone who knows what stage your project is at. For a contractor running two or three sites at once, that is worth as much as the rate.
